Custom Orders

 BRAND NEW ITEMS

Today we have new items for sale on the etsy shop.  I decided to list a few of my basic outfits.  I make a basic bishop pattern.  I have made a bunch of these, but they all have different lengths, sizes and smocking patterns.  Some of them are geometric, and some of them are picture smocking.  Also, there are smocking plates that I have never done and are waiting to be made.  So, I have 2 listings for a basic bishop dress.  One listing is for a baby layette set.  It is a bishop dress with bloomers and booties.  I can make it however you would like.  The second listing is for older girls and can be made up to a size 5 (for a 5 year old).  It can also be made just for you.

The next new item is a boys romper.  Some people call it a John John.  I am not sure what is the correct term, but I make them.  This is, once again, a basic pattern that can be made just for your little guy.  There are so many cute picture smocking plates for boys and they can be made into a cute outfit.  I have done whales and monkeys.  Keep in mind that picture smocking is not the only option.  I can also do geometrics for a little boys outfit.

So, send me your orders.  Both of these items can be made for Thanksgiving, Fall, Christmas, Winter time, Spring, Easter, Summer, and the list goes on.  I have also seen some cute football smocking plates.  If you do order, keep in mind that the pricing will depend on the type of material you would like and the smocking plate you choose.  For example, broadcloth and checked material is less than a batiste or satin.

I will be waiting.  My smocking hands are ready.

Fall Items and Tutu

So here is my first attempt at a Tutu.  It is not exactly the best job, and it needs a model.  The colors are my favorite part, because for some reason it reminds me of Tinkerbell.  Molly helped a little at the start, but when I moved everything to an elastic strip, she was too busy to help.  I think she will do one on her own next.

Also, I am showing a list of items that are in my Fall Outfit section.  I enjoyed making each one and can't wait to send them to you.  If you are interested, contact me through etsy.com or you may email me at tracy@passmore4.com.

All of these items are available on my Etsy Shop.  You may also contact me through my email address.  If you are interested, send me an email and I can give you the pricing information.  You can also go to my Etsy Shop and see the pricing information there.

First Week of School Craziness

Last week was the first week of school for my kids.  So, I was not posting much anywhere.  Also, my father had surgery and life was just crazy.  School starting changed my schedule and spending time at the hospital visiting my father and spending time with my family kept me from posting any blogs.  My kids are enjoying their first few days of school and seem to be getting off to a great start.  My father's surgery went great and he his home recovering.  It was a week of blessings all around.  My brother and my sisters and I were together for the first time since 2008.  That was fun.  I was sad to see them all go home, and will cherish the time we spent.

Now, life is somewhat back to normal.  I continue my training for my next half marathon in October.  My daughter is in a production of "Charlotte's Web" in October.  My husband and my son are just trying to keep up with everything.  It is amazing how once school starts the lazy days of Summer disappear so quickly.  Bummer!  I like lazy days.

Before things got crazy, my daughter and I decided we would try to make a tutu dress.  I have seen these all over Etsy and Pinterest, and they are so cute.  My first attempt was to crochet a headband and attach the toile to the spaces in the headband.  It was very difficult, and it looked funny.  So, we put it aside for a while.  Today I transferred the toile to a piece of elastic.  WOW!!!  So, much easier.  It looks much better and I can't wait to show off the finished product.  I am hoping the finished product will be good for a little girls tutu or a dress for "dress up".  However, my advice, if you ever work with toile, DO NOT use the stuff with glitter.  We have glitter all over the house and I keep finding it in very strange places.  Also, toile is not cheap.  As outfits go, the tutu dress or tutu are very easy to construct.

Right now, I have several Fall items on my Etsy shop for sale.  I would love for them to find a good home.  If you have a little one that needs a dress or a Baby Shower that you are attending, consider one of my items on my Etsy shop.  The link to my shop will be at the end of this blog.

My knitting practice is going well.  I have a piece that is pretty long.  I am hoping that I will have a Baby Blanket when I am done.  It won't be the best, but that is why you practice first.  The more I practice, the better I get a feel for the stitches.  The purl stitch is a struggle for me, but it is getting better.

Tomorrow, it is back to the glitter.  I will be finishing up on the tutu.  I can't wait to show off the colors.  It reminds me of the Tinkerbell  movies.

Have a great evening.

Yesterday was not extremely productive, but I did finish one dress.  This one is sized for a baby that is 13-15lbs and 25-26inches long.  I am thinking it is like a 3 to 6 month size.  I love the colors, but it can be made in different combinations.  It will probably not be listed on Etsy until next Spring, so if you want to purchase it before then let me know.

Very cute sun dress for your little 3 to 6 month old.  The ruffle add so much character to the outfit.
Beanie hat to add to the outfit.
Bloomers to make the outfit complete.

Monday, August 6, 2012

Today has been workout day and movie day around here.  I ran intervals this morning, the kids and I worked out on the elliptical at the YMCA, and then we spent most of the day watching "Fiddler on the Roof".  For some reason, I have been in musical mode.  Last week it was "Carousel".  Not my best choice, however when we were younger my sister and I loved "Carousel".  I watched it last week  and thought, "Boy!  This is corny!"  The next one on the list is "West Side Story."

While I have been in movie mode, my hands have been busy.  I have completed a little dress for a 3-6 month old little one(no buttons yet), and been practicing my knitting.  I never thought I would have so much trouble with knitting, but it has been challenging.  I have done a washcloth before, but I thought I would try a baby blanket.  It will not be a great blanket, but I am glad that I am working through the project.  The dress has been a lot of fun.  I can't wait to complete the whole outfit.  The plan is to have a dress with bloomers and a  hat.  It is a pattern that I have done before, but I wanted to do again.

My brain has been thinking about smocking lately.  What will come next?  I would like to do some Fall and Winter outfits, but I am not sure what patterns that I will do.  I would love to make my Garden Tea Party dress with Christmas colors, but that is going to take some time.  If you are interested in any Fall, Christmas, or Winter outfits, let me know soon.  I would love to create something beautiful for Christmas Card pictures or just for fun.

Rainy Days

Well, it is raining here in and we are all trying to remain sane.  My kids wanted to go to the pool today, but it is not gonna happen.  So, we are at home playing on the Wii and trying to come up with things to keep us busy.  What kind of things do you do in the rain?  We have had movie days, Wii days, board game days, and just doing nothing days.

Yesterday, I started working on knitting, once again.  I keep trying to perfect my knitting skills.  They are getting better, but I am not ready to go beyond the simple scarf, blanket, and wash cloth stage.  My crochet skills are much better.  I don't know why I feel the need to get this knitting thing down, but it drives me nuts that I can't knit.  Isn't that crazy?

I have had a few ideas this morning for fall.  If you go looking on the Simplicity patterns site or on the McCall's pattern site, you can find some inspiration.  I have also seen some interesting pinterest posts.  That is a site that I have yet to explore.  I feel like I already have too many sites to keep up, with Facebook, Etsy, and this blog.

For today, I am back to my knitting.  I am trying to make a basket weave baby blanket.  It is going pretty well, but I am not fast.  Also, if anyone in my family tried to talk to me, I have to finish a set of 5 stitches before they can speak.  It is just hard for me to focus on what I am doing when someone is talking.  I am so very weird.

For now, my sewing room is a mess and has material waiting to be placed into something cute.  It will have to wait for me for a while.  I just can't get motivated to make anything right now.  Also, I have plenty of things listed on Etsy.  So, if you are looking for anything for Fall, or for baby shower gifts, check out my Etsy shop.  We would love to have you.

Pictures Needed Please

OK, so I am still waiting on Fall pictures from any one out there who is listening.  I am looking for ideas and your pictures would be a great help.  If you will allow me, after you send your picture, I will post it in my blog.  I will not use names or anything like that, just the pictures.  So, if you have any that you are willing to share of kids in Fall clothes.  Dresses, pants, shirts, etc.  Anything that says "Fall".  It can be babies, toddlers, young children, teenagers, or even adults.  You can email them to me or just sent them through Facebook.  So, let's see those Fall pictures of all those wonderful outfits.

Summer Is Almost Over...Bummer.

I know that it is hard to believe, but Fall is coming.  In the South, it is hard to imagine, because we have temperatures that are still in the 90's.  We will continue to have warm temperatures into October and sometimes November.  However, everyone is still getting ready for school to start and getting very excited about the new year.

I have spent some time getting my kids ready for school this year.  I have one going into 8th grade and one going into 6th grade.  My 8th grader is like "No big deal".  He has been there done that for a few years now.  My 6th grader thinks it will be no big deal, but I am sure it is going to be a new world for her.  We did have most of the supplies we needed, but I am adding some other items gradually.  My goal is to be complete before the "tax free" weekend.  I mean, seriously, is it worth the craziness?  I don't think so.

Sewing Sweet has a very cute outfit for your Back to School needs.  This Back To School Capri Pant Outfit is so adorable with apples on the top.  The pants have elastic waist and the top has a zipper back.  If you are interested, it is for sale on in my Etsy shop.  Check out my listing there for pricing and shipping information.

I am trying to come up with my next project.  The possibilities are endless and that is what makes it difficult.  I have so many ideas that it is hard to pick just one.  I would like to do another little boy outfit, because there are so few out there.  I would also like to do some more Fall dresses, but I already have 2 dresses and they have not sold.  The other option is another Capri pant set.  Who knows what I will decide to make?  It is any one's guess.

OK, here is what I need from you out there....send me Fall pictures.  I would like to see if you can send me some pictures of little ones in Fall outfits.  That way, I may get and idea from your pictures.  Any picture that has a good view of the outfit.  It can be a dress, a shorts set, a pant set, or anything Fall.  Also, it does not have to be girls outfits.  Little boys out there need some cute things too.  You may send them to me on Facebook or message me and I will send you my email.  Show me your Fall.

Thursday, July 12, 2012

OK, I know I already posted a blog earlier today, but I just finished this and had to share.  I LOVE this pattern.  It is so much fun to make and looks darling on little girls.  This material makes it perfect.  What do you think?  Let me know.
Yes, it is Thursday, and I have not been able to post until right now.  Really, I should be in the sewing room working.  I have a totally cute outfit that is almost finished.  I can't wait to see who purchases this top and short set.  It is one of my favorite patterns.  I will most likely make it again.

So, the "Name the Bunny" contest has not been a great success, because I have not done a great job of posting.  So, I think we are going to hold off on that for a while.  Things are about to get pretty busy around here with school starting, and I am not sure how it will all work out.  So, for now, save your ideas for the bunny until you hear more.

My 2 piece 3 month old little boys outfit turned out great.  I was worried it was too girly, but it actually looks very cute.  I can imagine some couple taking their little guy home from the hospital in this.  The embroidery was not bad, but next time I am going to use a tear away stabilizer.  That stuff is so nice, because you can take it off after you stitch, and it doesn't show.  Here is a picture of the outfit.  Now, it just needs a good home.

Monday, July 9, 2012

Happy Monday morning to everyone.  It has been a productive weekend.  I finished the crocheted bunny(see pictures in the blog post before this one), and began working on a 2 piece 3 month old outfit for a baby boy.  It is turning out much better than I had thought.  I was worried about the embroidery, but it looks pretty cute.  I still need to make the pants, put in elastic, and do buttons on the top.  I can't wait to post it on Etsy.  This is only the second little boy outfit that I have done.  I was hoping for a response to the first one, but so far no one wants to purchase the outfit.

After the baby boy outfit, I have a pillow case dress and a shorts outfit to start. I just can't stop.  Every time I get close to finishing an outfit, I start thinking about what will come next.  These next 2 are gonna be so cute.

OK, so here is the contest this week.  Name the Bunny.  If you look at my last post, you will see the bunny that I made.  That is this weeks give away.  In order to win the bunny, you must help me name him.  So, every time you post an idea for his name on this blog, I will put your name for the bunny in a hat.  On Friday, I will draw out a name for the bunny.  The person whose bunny name comes out of the hat, will be the winner of the bunny.  There is no limit to how many times you can name him, except for only once a day.  Also, if you share this blog with your friends and they post, you will get and extra entry.  Make sure that your friends put your name in their blog post, so that I know who gets the extra entry.  So, get those creative juices flowing and share my blog with...well, everyone.

Saturday, July 7, 2012

OK, DRUM ROLL PLEASE....The winner of the blog post is AMBER HILTZ.  Congratulations to Amber.  I will send you pictures of the bags and you can choose one.  Thank you to all of you who posted on my blog.  You are helping me to be better at what I love.

I finally finished my first ever crocheted stuffed animal.  It is a purple bunny.  He is very cute, but he needs a name.  So, that is my next contest.  Post a name for Mr. Bunny on this blog.  The more you post the more you are entered in the drawing.  The reward is the bunny.  Next Saturday, my kids will draw a name to see who wins this guy.  He was a ton of fun to make, but my wrists need a break.  So, no crocheting for me this week.

This week I will continue to work on a little outfit for a 3 month old boy.  After that, I have 2 shorts outfit options for little girls.  I am looking forward to them.  I have not done just sewing in a while.  I am taking a little break from smocking.  However, never fear, I will get back at it soon.

Thursday, July 5, 2012

The Bunny Project continues.   We now have a body, 2 arms, and 2 legs.  Tomorrow, my bunny needs ears and a face.  Earlier today he only had one leg and my daughter said he looked like a dufflepud from Narnia.  She is so cute.  We even took a picture.  I will try to post later.

I still need to start on my little boys outfit.  That is next on the list.  Today, I bought material for 2 more little girls outfits.  One is going to be a 2T size.  It will be a ruffle top and yellow shorts.  The other one maybe another pillow case dress or something smocked.  I am not sure.

So, more comments are needed.  My blog is lonely.  So, the posts I am looking for today are about your favorite dress.  My sister and I had a dress that we loved to wear when we were little.  It was a dress that I wore in a wedding as a flower girl.  We use to fight over who would wear it.  Now, I can't believe that we fought over it.  It was 70's style dress.  The colors are awful.  So, tell me about your favorite dress you wore as a little girl.

Happy 4th of July to all.  I hope and pray that your day has been relaxing and you enjoy celebrating the birth of our country.  My family got the house cleaned and then were lazy for the rest of the day.  I have spent my day on my crochet project.

So, the crocheted bunny is coming along.  I have finished the head, body, 2 arms, and one leg.  Right now it looks like 2 eggs with arms.  I haven't attached the legs.  I think that once I get the legs, ears, and face it is going to look very cute.  Right now it just looks funny.  I am already thinking about what to do next.

The have only been a few posts from the same person.  I guess I need some better  ideas for discussion.  So, for this posts, let me hear what you did to celebrate the 4th of July.  Remember, there is a prize being offered.

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Welcome to Tuesday.  It is going to be beautiful here at Sewing Sweet today.  I pray that your day meets you with wonderful blessings from God.

Yesterday was some what productive.  I am working on my first ever crocheted stuffed bunny.  I finished the body, head and one arm while watching TV with the kids.  The most difficult part, so far, is crocheting while stuffing.  The arms gave the biggest challenge.  They just got so small.  With any luck, today I will complete another arm, 2 legs, and 2 ears.  My only concern is that my wrist will hold out.  I tend to aggravate my carpal tunnel thing in my wrist when I crochet.  Anyway, the bunny is going to be grape purple and have some button eyes.  I can't wait to finish this project.

On to my contest.  I still need some more posts.  I only got one idea for colors for fall.  So on your comments today, you can leave colors for fall or ideas for other crocheted items.  Remember, every time you post a comment I enter you in a drawing for a small hand made bag.  So, let's get those ideas coming.

Monday, July 2, 2012

OK, so I have had 4 responses to my last blog.  That is a pretty good start.  Here is the plan.  Every time you comment on my blog, I will enter your name in a drawing.  This Friday, I will draw one name out of a hat.  That person will be the winner of a small handmade bag.  I have 2 and you will get to choose one(Pictures to come later).  These would make great Bible carrying bags or small bags for something little.  Anyway, that is the contest, so lets get those comments going.

Today has started out a beautiful day.  Already finished my morning run, and ready to relax by the pool for a while.  After the pool, I am going to try to finish a purple bunny that I am attempting to crochet.  The only thing I am waiting on is stuffing.  This is my first attempt at a crocheted toy, so we will see how it goes.

The next project is going to be the boys outfit with embroidery on the top.  I found some cute animals, like giraffes and alligators, for the picture.  Also, I have some blue and yellow plaid material.  I am thinking about a pillow case dress, or just a plain sun dress.

Now, onto these comments, here is what I am looking for...post a comment here about your favorite Fall colors.  I have a few fall dresses on my Etsy site, but I wanted to know what you thing is a popular fall outfit.  It could be for little boys or little girls.  It could be smocked or not smocked, crocheted items might be more difficult since my abilities are still in the practice stages.  So, have fun and remember the more you post, the more you are entered in the drawing for the little bags.  Oh yea, the bags were made by me a few years ago.

Sunday, July 1, 2012

So the booties and bloomers gift is completed and delivered.  These items were made for a little baby that was  born last week.  I can't believe that she will wear these o  ne day.  She is so tiny and pretty.  It was my Pink Petite Four set, but it was done in a cream colored fabric.  I love to make that set because it is beautiful every time I make it.

This week, I took a little break and did a little crocheting.  I made a washcloth for my kitchen.  I struggle between using a washcloth or sponges for my kitchen.  The problem is I can't always find a washcloth that matches my kitchen.  So, I decided that I would make one.  The crocheted ones work so good when you are scrubbing.  We will see how it works.  I am not sure that I used the correct yarn.  It was a soft yarn for baby items, but it was all that I had.

I have also been looking at some crocheted toys.  I found a cute bunny pattern to crochet and a precious caterpillar.  I am not sure if I have the ability to construct these items, but I figure that it is worth a try.  So, I may work on those in the coming week.

As far as smocking, I am not sure that the next outfit I make will be smocked.  I am looking into a embroidered little baby boy's pants outfit.  The picture has a bear and some flowers on the top.  I am not sure that I will go with that picture.  I was thinking something like blocks or a train would be cute.

Basically, my brain is in thought mode.  What can I make next that people will buy?  It would be nice to have some feed back.  If you can think of ideas, I would welcome them.  I want to see how many comments that I can get on this post.  I may have a prize for the best idea.  Hmmm...we will see.

Monday, June 25, 2012

New week and new ideas forming.  I have finished my morning run and sent my son out to do the same(he was not happy about this).  After some grocery shopping and fun at the pool, I will need to get some work done.

The bloomers are pleated and ready to be smocked.  It is a good thing too, because little one is due this week.  So, I must get these finished.  The booties and bloomers are going to be beautiful with dress.

So, when I think about sewing, I always think about my Grandmother.  She was an amazing seamstress among other things.  As children we use to look at all the things she had made and just be amazed.  I don't think that at that time my dream was to sew.  In fact, it was my mother that gave me the beginnings of sewing lessons.  I wish I could say that I enjoyed sewing.  I did not.  When I was in Middle School, I had to take Home Ec.   One of the things we did was to make a skirt.  Mine was HORRIBLE.  I was sure right then and there that I would never sew again.  After I was married and teaching, a dear friend helped me sew a vest to wear as a teacher.  I was surprised at how easy it was to make.  After that, I just kept trying new things and here I am today.  Doing my best to practice skills and learn new ones.  I still have a lot to learn, but I look forward to each challenge.  I am sure my mother is shocked.  We would have never guessed that I would so love to sew and create beautiful outfits for little ones.

Saturday, June 23, 2012

Well, the week has been very busy.  I have not be able to get into the sewing room at all.  I did manage to get some booties almost completed.  It is so very hard to run an at home business.  The most difficult part is "home".  Life continues to happen, and so business doesn't happen.  My kids were a part of a play this week that went with our church VBS.  That kept us on the road and with not much extra time.  Now, the VBS and play are over and we are going to have some fun at the pool.

Next week I begin training for my next Half Marathon race.  That will hinder my work a bit.  However, seeing as how I do not have any orders on the outfits that I currently have in stock, I am not too worried.  I am feeling a little discouraged about my items not selling.  When you spend so much time creating a beautiful dress, shorts outfit, capri outfit, or boys romper, you want someone else to be able to enjoy the clothing.  Also, you feel a sense of accomplishment.  You have created something that looks better than you thought.  God has blessed me with several successful outfits.  I just wish I was better at marketing, and blogging.

OK, enough of a downer.  Onto new and amazing things.  My up and coming items are a set of bloomers, and something for a little boy in cream cotton.  The bloomers will be in a cream batiste.  That material is beautiful, and delicate.  The cotton material will make a cute romper or I do have a 2 piece top and pants set for boys that I could make.  It is a tough decision.  Both would be good items for a baby boy, but I wonder which one would be most desirable.  When I have a free moment this week, I will consult my daughter.  She usually give me great ideas or helps me to find a great idea.

If you are interested in any of my outfits, please visit my Etsy shop.  Just click on the link below.

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Well, Summer Vacation has begun.  The kids are out of school and we were hoping to spend some time at the pool.  However, this week has been either cloudy or rainy.  So, no pool.  Tuesday was supposed to be sunny, but I woke up to rain.  So, we have tried to keep ourselves busy in the house.  I wonder how long that will last.   When we get bored with the Wii and books (Who am I kidding?  My kids are never bored with books.), then we will have to find something else.

So, projects are on a little bit of a hold right now.  I have some booties and bloomers to start and finish that are a promised baby gift.  The booties are pleated and ready to be smocked.  I know that I should be working, but it is nice to take a break.  After I am done, I don't know what I will do next.  I need to try another boy outfit.  I have cream material and some ideas, but I have yet to land on a decision.  Short sleeved or long sleeved?  That is the question.

Saturday, June 2, 2012

OK, so my first attempt at a little boys outfit was successful(see picture below). It was so cool to see this romper come alive.  I was worried at the beginning, because it looked like a dress.  However, as the outfit came together, I could see this on some little boy around 6 months old.  I do like the way it turned out.  The next one maybe a picture smocked romper.  The material I picked out is a cream.  So, I am thinking some giraffes, dogs, or my monkeys( I love the monkeys).  We will see what I come up with.  The romper is for sale on my Etsy shop for $50.  However, if you are a local customer, I may be able to give you a discount if you order through me and not Etsy.

The other item that was created these past few weeks was a bag for my daughter's teacher.  It turned out way better than I expected and was so quick to make.  I used her school's t-shirt that someone had given to me.  The back of the t-shirt had the perfect picture for a bag.  The bottom and inside were made with a lime green cotton and the handles are pink grosgrain ribbon.  I was so excited when it was finished.  I would love to do more of these.  If you wold like one, let me know.  You would have to let me know what t-shirt you would like for the bag.

Let me know if you want a creative bag like this one.  It was a ton of fun to make.  I can't decide if these are going on my Etsy shop.  Any thoughts?

Well, I must get to work.  I am starting on booties and bloomers for another little sweet girl that is due to arrive in July.  Also, I will need to attempt another boys outfit.  Summer is here, so I do not work as much.  The pool needs me too this Summer.  Hopefully, I will write some more soon about the Summer fun at Sewing Sweet.

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Well, the stomach bug that has been going around made a visit to me and about 11 of my friends.  It has been a lovely 24 hours of doing nothing, but praying that I do not throw up again.  Thankfully, I think I am done.  Eating a little more normal today, but taking it easy.

So, I get to spend time sewing today.  Picked out material to do 2 baby boy outfits on Sunday.  One is going to be in a cream material and one is in a blue.  I have 2 different patterns to try, so we will see what I end up making.  Both materials are a cotton, so I don't think they would work well for winter, but a Fall or Spring would be pretty good.

My cream bishop dress is still in the works.  I think I have decided to do pink roses instead of a Christmas green or Poinsettia flowers.  The pink roses will wear longer and be more practical.  I always look to do the practical.

So, it is off to get read for the day.  No workout for me today, because I am not sure I will be up for it yet.  That means, I can work on getting the germs out of my house and creating something wonderful for some little guy.

Friday, May 11, 2012

OK, so I haven't posted in a long time.  I am still not sure what I am doing, but I am figuring things out.  I have new items that have been listed in my Etsy Shop.  To see them follow this link to my shop...Sewing Sweet Shop

Currently, I am working on a version of my Pink Petite Four dress in a cream fabric.  My thoughts are to create this dress as a Christmas outfit for a little one.  The smocking will be in cream and the flowers may be Poinsettia flowers or possible red roses.  I am very excited.

The next items may be some little boy items.  I have not created a lot of little boy clothes, but it is time.  I do enjoy making the romper outfits.  My idea is to try to make one that has sleeves.  I am not sure what to smock on the romper, but it may just be a plain romper.  I also have seen some cute patterns with little hats for boys.

Summer is coming.  If you have any ideas that you would like to see in my shop, I would love for you to share.  Leave me a comment and who knows what items may pop up.

Spring and Easter are busy times around the sewing shop.  Most people want a new outfit for their little one.  I am so glad to say that I have 3 or 4 orders this season.  I am praying that I don't get overwhelmed.  I am blessed to make clothes for so many little ones.  The dresses do not look near as beautiful sitting on a hanger.  It takes a little one to make them come alive.

My other thoughts this season are the colors.  Spring and Easter have such wonderful colors.  My favorite colors are purple, pink, pastel green, and sometimes a pale blue.  Most of the time it depends on the shade of the color that makes a difference.  There are also many fabrics that look great.  Broadcloth and Batiste are good fabrics, but Kona cotton and seersucker work great for the season.  I have also found that a linen blend is a good choice.  A pure linen is not my favorite choice, however.  Pure linen tends to wrinkle too much and is a little itchy.

What are your favorite colors or fabrics?  Let me know.

OK, new dress.  Just finished yesterday.  I love the pretty pastel colors.  This one was made in Kona Cotton.  I really like working with that material.  My other favorites are materials like batiste, broadcloth, or a linen look.  I have worked with other materials, but they don't move as well in my hands.

Welcome to the first Sewing Sweet blog.  I am not sure how to do this thing, but here it is.  I will try to update you on ideas that I have or current projects.  I welcome any comments or questions.

To start off, I am currently working on my Garden Tea Party dress in a size 4.  It is currently under construction.  I finished the smocking last week and have been working to get the pleating threads out.  It is made out of a teal blue Kona cotton and pastel green Kona cotton.  This is one of my favorite patterns.  Every time I make one of these dresses  I think of the different possible color combinations.  This dress has been made in yellow and blue, pink and purple, white and pink, and now teal blue and pastel green.  What other combinations do you think would work?

My sewing room is full of completed outfits that need a home.  For the ones currently for sale, go to my Etsy shop.
